

DR. MAY A. THOMAS
Geriatric Care Educator and ConsultantMD, FACP, AGSF, CMD
Dr. Thomas brings with her a unique combination of professional and personal caregiving experience. Dr. Thomas is a retired physician with over 30 years of experience in a combination of Academic and Clinical Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Clinically she worked as a Medical Director of facilities, and primary care physician in the office, hospital, home, nursing home and assisted living environments, primarily in South Jersey. Dr. Thomas provided hospice care in all settings. She taught medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinical settings and in the classroom.
Dr. Thomas grew up in a multigenerational home in the Bronx, NYC and was involved in the care of all four of her grandparents and later her father. Two of her grandparents had dementia, one had cancer and was on home hospice, and her father had Alzheimer’s. She currently assists in the care of her mother. Since retiring from the practice of medicine in 2014, Dr. Thomas as an educator has given talks on health and elder care topics locally and nationally to communities and healthcare professionals. She blogs on health and eldercare, and has been featured on local radio and internet radio. In 2016 she was listed as one of Who’s Who in Healthcare by South Jersey Biz magazine.
Dr. Thomas enjoys being an active member of the Philadelphia Art Museum, she paints, reads, and travels. She has a son Craig who lives and works in Japan and a daughter Lori who is engaged and lives and works in Arizona.
